June 5 – 2019 - North King Lodge

June 5 – 2019

The fishing continues and there are a few more guides working the water to give a better idea of what is happening out there.  Until now we were limited to the morning bite and huddled in the Honey Hole (#2-#3) which continues to hold bait and decent Chinook action.  Average size is still 15-25 pounds on landed fish. Ryan’s Hole and Arnie’s Hole continue to produce fish on a flooding tide as well with sparks of hope being seen at the River (#7).  Flasher combos such as White w/glow heads and bigger Tomic spoons (6″ glow) are definitely the most productive trolled at 47-57′.
The Coho are starting to move in really well.  Knob Hill (#4) and Wall Island (#13) on an ebbing tide has had great action for 4-6 pound Coho. The bait is being pushed through those areas when the water is running fairly heavy and in it are some ravenous fish.  We have pulled the odd Chinook as well out in those conditions, but for the most part you can’t get it down without a Coho snapping it up.  Running gear like Flasher Hoochies (Green/Green) and spoons are way more efficient over having to bait every three minutes.
Halibut fishing has sort of been off and on, but we have not given enough effort at this point to give a really detailed report on it.
Two more days until we are filled with guests.  Will update again in the next couple of days, but all compasses are pointed to another fantastic season.
