Only four days after the last report where there was 28 Tyee’s on paper and we are now at a killer 32 over 30lbs – one being a whopping 50 pounds on the button!! From what we have heard it’s the biggest sport caught fish on the coast so far this year. The big boy came from Baker Creek around from #5 which has still been producing but has slowed down slightly on the Coho side of things. Most the catches up at the top end are now being caught on Anchovy teaser heads (green) We did see some squid in the bay and a few guides dropped down some Hoochies and sure enough they were getting hit pretty hard with springs. The 50lb Chinook was caught on a 6-inch half bronze and half silver spoon 57 feet deep. The bites are starting to spread around our area from the North end of the Honey Hole (fishing 57 feet to 67 feet with Anchovy and flashers) to Arnie’s Hole (27 feet to 37 feet also with anchovy and flasher set ups). Area 51 is still not producing numbers that we have seen in the past with a few boats going to check it out but they are coming back to fish on this side where there seems to be more action. Halibut have been being caught mostly down south at Russel Banks and the odd one still being dragged up from the bottom at the Pinnacle. We’ve managed to rustle up some big boys as well. One estimated to weigh over 150 pounds, but still plenty of keepers in the 50-pound range. Looking forward to seeing you struggle with some of these big bad boys.
