Here we are on the end of a long and very successful fishing season, a week left to go and the fishing is still going beyond expectations.  The past few days and today have been a rollercoaster for weather, about as bad and as wet as you can get.  There has been periods of relief and our mighty fishermen have braved the elements and caught the heck out of them.  The salmon fishing has been fairly confined to the west shore of Aristazabal because of the wind.  Honey Hole to Number 5 has been where all the fishing has gone on, and thank god that apparently the salmon like hiding from the wind as well.  The bigger of the Chinook caught have been at Sailor Rock and the reef between two and three, biggest last trip was 38# but again the average size of Chinook remains larger then in the past years as well.  Great deal of the keepers are in the mid 20 range.  The Coho is not over the top which is okay if you still want a chance at some good Chinook fishing, the Coho are still running in the 9 to 13 range and mixed in with the other salmon.  4 and 5 seem to be the best at the tide change for a stronger bite on Coho.  Stuff working now are darker glow color flashers and daisy chains, followed by glow anchovy set up or hoochies.  Some of the bigger fish have been brought in on whole herring rolled in conjunction with daisy chains.  

Halibut fishing has been tough as it is all season, roll that in with 30-40 mile an hour winds and lets just say minimal time was had on the halibut grounds.  It looks like the last trip has very mild weather to look forward to so we will see how it goes over the next week.
